Lacrosse has been recognized by the North Carolina High School Athletic Association as a varsity sport since 2008. As one of only two lacrosse teams in the Iredell Statesville School system, we are required to be self funded. Our funding is generated by parents and by the activities of the board, which often times has resulted in many people referring to lacrosse at LNHS as a club. Lake Norman HS Lacrosse is a varsity sport, not a club. LNHS has been to the North Carolina 4A state championship game 5 out of the past seven years, winning two state titles in that time.
Because Iredell County does not have the wherewithal to fund lacrosse as a sport across the county, Lake Norman HS created a boosters club and board to finance the team and run its operations. The board’s primary responsibility is to raise funds and manage expenses. However, a lot of what the board does is operational – it organizes travel, manages the gate and concessions for home games, procures uniforms and practice pinnies, etc. For more information on the LNHS Men’s Lacrosse Booster Club, please contact Michael Heredia, President, firstname.lastname@example.org.
