Dr. Bryan Saltzman, a sports medicine surgeon at OrthoCarolina, explains how the ACL works, why tears are so common & what to do if it happens to you.

Foam Rolling the Tension Away After Sitting All Day

Are long hours at your computer, on the couch or in the car leaving your muscles stiff and tight? Try using a foam roller to relieve that tension and give your aching muscles a release. The foam roller also helps muscles recover from exercise more quickly and reduces soreness.

“It may seem difficult and awkward at first, but the learning curve is quick,” says Maria” Zen” Abanilla, a physical therapist at OrthoCarolina. “Spend a few minutes on it daily and you’ll get the hang of it – and you won’t want to stop.”
